Hanoi Sonata

When I was a child, on full moon days and special holidays of the year, my mother often took me to many pagodas in the inner capital city such as Quan Thanh Temple, Tay Ho Temple, Tran Quoc Pagoda, etc. In our childhood memories, these two ancient folk songs remind us (the children of Hà Thành) the
image of Hanoi:
“ Gió đưa cành trúc la đà; Tiếng chuông Trấn Vũ, canh gà Thọ Xương…”
In this subconscious, the beauty of Hanoi is the interference of three main factors: ancient familiar images (the pagoda roof, the bamboo rampart) - the visual perception; relaxing sound of pagoda bells –the auditory perception; and the comfort of a cool breeze on a late summer afternoon – the
perceptionof touch.
Inspired by the above experience, “HANOI
SONATA” is proposed to create a contemporary
art work which not only contains cultural image
value of the city but also promises to bring a unique
experience to the users (multi-sensory experience).
